a little more

A platform for youth and teen girls about progress over perfection.

ABOUT

Hi, I’m Emily.

Emily Jenkins

I’m the current USA National Miss North Georgia Teen, an unofficial food blogger, YA and picture book author, and the founder of A Little More.

I was also a varsity wrestler for three years who dropped a weight class every season. During my junior year, I placed sixth at the first sanctioned women’s state tournament in North Carolina at 108. Since the drop from 114 was such a success, I made the cut to 100 for my final season. I was sure that being smaller was my only shot at being the best, especially after a back injury took me out of summer practices.

To my excitement, I made it back to states and walked into tournament weekend as “one to watch.” And then I got a Charlie horse during my first match against a really awesome wrestler and lost. The consolation round later that night didn’t go any better. Suddenly the girl who was “one to watch” was the one watching from the stands because I was out on day one.

Now I volunteer coach middle and high school girls. When I interviewed, I remember saying that my goal was to help the girls progress and make their season memorable and fun, instead of something they end up hating because they spent all their time thinking about winning. That’s how I came up with A Little More. It’s for every girl who’s felt like she needed to be a lot more, or perfect, or the best.

THE PLATFORM

a little more.

Anti-comparison, anti-burnout, anti-perfection. Yep, I said it. A practice for youth and teen girls who are tired of measuring themselves against everyone else only to end up hating what brings them joy, including themselves.

You don’t have to be a lot more.
just a little.

01

Compare yourself to you, yesterday.

The only fair fight you’ll ever have is against who you were yesterday. Not the girl sitting next to you and not whoever’s on your FYP.

02

Cheer for other girls out loud.

When you see another girl doing something amazing, tell her, and mean it. Tearing other girls down doesn’t make you bigger.

03

Pick one thing. Not all the things.

You can’t change everything at once, so pick the one thing that, if it got a little better this week, would make your whole week better.
