For everyone who’s ever been told they need to be the best. Or believed it themselves.
I’m the current USA National Miss North Georgia Teen, an unofficial food blogger, YA and picture book author, and the founder of A Little More.
A Little More came from my own experience competing in high school, where I spent more time comparing myself to other wrestlers than focusing on my progress. This led to burnout and injuries, low self-esteem, and almost cost me the sport I love. Want to know the worst part? All around the world, kids and teens are comparing themselves to others and trying to be so perfect that they stop enjoying the things that make them, them. Now that I’m coaching middle and high school girls wrestling, my goal is to teach youth to shoot for small wins instead of being the best.
Anti-comparison, anti-burnout, anti-perfection. Yep, I said it. A practice for kids and teens who are tired of measuring themselves against everyone else only to end up hating what brings them joy, including themselves.
You don’t have to be a lot more.
just a little.
Forget the person next to you.
When you see someone doing something amazing, tell them, and mean it. Tearing others down doesn’t make you bigger.
You can’t fix everything at once. Pick the one thing that, if it nudged forward a little, would change the whole week.
